Norwegian Crowned Champ at Eastwood

Orlando, Florida.
Another tournament week is wrapped up as the SunCoast Series concluded the final round today at Eastwood Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.  Norwegian amateur Benedikte "Boo" Grotvedt (Nesbru, Norway) earned the title this week with rounds of 77-71-72=220 to win by three shots at four over par.  This is Boo's fifth SunCoast Series title, first of 2008, with her last win coming almost one year ago.

"It feels good to win again.  I feel like I have been struggling since last summer.  I was going through some swing changes and trying different techniques and equipment and I really never felt comfortable or had a lot of confidence in my game.  All winter I have been trying different equipment to fit my game and my swing changes and coming into this week I felt good about my game as a whole.  I changed my putter and put the RIFE Antigua into play this week.  I went down to the RIFE studio earlier in the week and was able to see my putting stroke from different angles.  I had a good stroke that was consistent.  They put a putter in my hand and I left there knowing that I had the stroke and the right putter, the rest was up to me.  Coming into this week I had been hitting the ball real well.  I was anxious to see how the swing changes that I have been working on were going to hold up under the pressure of playing tournament golf.  I kept it in play off of the tee, hit greens, and made putts."

Two players tied for low pro honors this week.  Maggie Steciuk (London, Ontario) and Debbie Munoz (Delray Beach, FL) split first and second place money in the professional division this week finishing the event at seven over par 223.  Sarasota's Patty Schremmer and Nicole Hadd (Crestview, FL) tie for fourth this week at eight over par 224.

The SunCoast Series visits Huntington Hills Golf and Country Club next week.  Round one is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
